We’ve seen plenty of retro-themed synth packs over the last couple of years, but Suspense defines its own space by taking influence more from John Carpenter scores than from Stranger Things.
The pack is essentially 12 menacing construction kits with accompanying Live project files, which are further divided into folders of basses, drums and percussion, pads and drones, SFX, and synths and instruments, plus 97 MIDI files as an added bonus.
Most of the riffs are well written and sound like they could have been lifted from some long-lost 70s horror classic, with plenty of movement and some lovely analogue detuning. You also get a folder of tail samples to help the loops come to a smooth end, which also have the potential to be sampled and turned into an excellent collection of playable instruments.
